This is important. Pepper spray should only ever be used to pacify a dangerous suspect. In this case it is being administered as a punishment, in clear violation of the 8th amendment and Article Five of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

occupyallstreets:

Activist were peacefully protesting on their campus at University of California, Davis Quad.

Friday afternoon police showed up in riot gear to disperse the protesters by using pepper spray at point-blank range.

The officer who pepper-sprayed UC Davis students is Lt. John Pike. Give his PD a call. 530-752-1727

The video’s worse.

Oh you gotta be fucking kidding me.

Son of a bitch

Spread this like wildfire! The police need to be held accountable for this despicable behavior.

What really makes me sick about all of this is that this behavior is nothing new. They’ve been getting away with this kind of abuse for years, against PoC and minority groups. It needs to stop. It needed to stop a long time ago.

The worst thing is it’s nothing to him. Look at his face. He feels neither enjoyment or pain, success or remorse. He’s emotionless. A drone. Just following orders. He’s doing what should be so fucking hard, causing pain to young people who aren’t doing anything wrong. In what they are standing for would probably help him.

So he’s shut off. Just walking along and … doing it. This is destroying everyone. On both sides. I’m not saying feel sorry for him. But please recognise it. He’s serving something that doesn’t treat him as a person but a tool, an asset. And that’s what he’s become.

This is a picture so it’s hard to fully understand, but look at that jet of spray, imagine how it would hurt. People would be screaming. And to have that expression through that, for the screams of kids to not get through to you, how fucking terrifying is that?

and I start crying again.

when the crowd starts chanting “shame on you” i really hope the officer that sprayed the peaceful protesters takes that to heart and or has his job taken away from him thats not ok

also some officers had guns ummmmmmm why
